PicBlitz is just about the fastest viewer you'll ever see. It uses a patented memory matrix rather than the hard drive.
Just hover the mouse over a folder or file list and you'll see the image instantly.
PicBlitz has file manager that's better. Move, copy, rename, brighten everything first, then save it later.
There's a full screen slide show and support for JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, ICON as well as many manufacturer's formats.
Your images are pre-organized by date or folder... The trees are already expanded and ready to view.
View them by a calendar, date, folder, or find them by name.
Rotate, change resolution, brightness, contrast or color your images without being forced to save them... Until you're ready.
Double click to edit an image in your own software.
Just press 'save modifications'; your hard drive will be updated with no chance of accidental overwrites.
PicBlitz supports networked and removable drives.
Start off with a Scan
PicBlitz starts with a hard drive scan.
By default, My Documents and My Photos are scanned. The results of the scan are stored in a data matrix containing both the image information and location on the drive.
Use the scan control tab to select other drives and folders. Networked and removable drives are listed along with your local hard drives.
To include a folder in the scan, place a check mark next to it.
When you add images to your system run 'Scan and Sync' which updates PicBlitz to match the structure of your hard drive. The structure of networked and removable drives are saved even if it has been disconnected from your PC.
To put PicBlitz to the test, select all the folders in your C drive and every file type. The results will surprise you.
The User Interface
Mouse hovering makes PicBliltz extremely fast. Use a single mouse click to temporarily suspend hovering. Another click and the hovering is restored.
If it's too fast for you, slow it down in the Scan Control tab. Changing the value takes effect immediately. Mouse hovering can be turned off using the toolbar or CTL-H.
There are 3 main views: By Date, Instant Search, and Folders. They are joined to each other. One button switches from folder view to date view and visa versa.
The date view has folder tree organized by date. As you hover over an image, all the images matching that date are displayed, regardless of their location on the hard drive.
The folder view displays the location of your images on the hard drive. Unlike Windows Explorer, the folders are pre-expanded, exposing deeply nested folders. Use the find command to locate a specific folder.
Use the Search View to find an image by name. This view contains a calendar so you can view images from multiple dates.
A size adjustable thumbnail view is synchronized with the main view. Grab the scroll bar and you'll zoom through thumbs like lightening.
A full screen slide show
To start a slide show, click on the image itself. It's speed adjustable. Exiting the slide show selects the image in PicBlitz's main image list, so you can modify or organize it easily.
Integrates with Windows Explorer
You'll see a right click shortcut in Windows Explorer so you can easily use PicBlitz to open your images.
When you open an image PicBlitz adds the image as well as all other images in the folder.
Double click on any image to open it in your own editing software.
Modifying Your Images
PicBlitz has an easy way to change your image's resolution, size, brightness, color or rotation.
The changes do not affect the original image residing on your hard drive, rather, PicBlitz holds the image in its buffer until you are ready to save it.
When you save the file, it's given a new filename describing the action you took on it. For instance, if you change the size of "MyPhoto.JPG" to 1024x768 a new file is created called "MyPhoto_1024x768.JPG".
A special folder called 'Graphics Modifications' contains every graphic you've changed so you can easily save it in one spot.
To resize numerous photos at once, use the CTL key or shift key to select multiple files and then press Quick Resize on the file toolbar.
Organizing Your Images
PicBlitz make it easy to organize your images.
After a file is moved, copied or renamed it is highlighted in RED, meaning it's waiting to be written to disk.
Press 'save modifications' to permanently update the files on your hard drive.
PicBlitz has drag and drop move and copy and supports the Windows Clipboard. To see a history of what you've changed, use File -> View Recent Changes.
PicBlitz protects you from accidently deleting an image. The only way you can delete a file is by moving them to the Junk Folder. Once you are certain the images are really junk, use the delete key. The images are placed into the Windows Recycle Bin.
PicBlitz's Custom Folders
3 special folders can be found the top of the folder tree named Favorites, Junk, and Graphic Modifications.
If you find an image you absolutely love, move or copy it to the Favorites folder.
The Junk folder holds images until you are ready to delete them. Once you've given them a second look, deleting them from the Junk Folder moves them to the recycle bin.
The Graphic Modifications folder contains all images which were resized, rotated or brightened so they can be easily saved to a single location on the hard drive.
